My visit to the Raleigh Equestrian Exchange

Only your pocketbook and personal self control would limit what you could find in there!

Thanks to my friend Jackie for telling me about this and going with me :-)

You can read more about the Equestrian Exchange by going to their website outlining the rules of the tack consignment process.

Basically we went down to the fairgrounds here in Raleigh where they had rented a medium sized building for a few days.  Inside, there were literally thousands of used items related to the equine industry.  The price was clearly labeled on every single item.  There was no haggling (which I hate) and nobody bothered you as you browsed around.  There were small random things such as combs, a spare polo wrap, chicago screws, etc., as well as huge items such as a beautiful two-wheeled cart for fine driving and everything in between.  For me to mention saddles, blankets, pads, jeans, show clothes, bits, headstalls, supplements, books, jackets, hats, boots, or harnesses would only be hitting the high spots and broad categories.

I went only to check it out with no intention of buying anything whatsoever and found a very nice pair of chaps for $25 that found their way home with me.  Only your pocketbook and personal self control would limit what you could find in there!  I recommend it for anyone in the horse industry who is looking for anything at all or if you just have a few hours to kill and want to browse.  Large quantities of tack consignment beats shopping at the mall by a longshot!
