Poodle Costume for a Horse - Topknot and Ears

I wanted the wig to sit on top of Kadence's head, not down over her ears or over her head like it would fit a person. My mom had the idea of stuffing some pantyhose to use as a filler. This way it is light and doesn't make any sound. (Kadence is a pretty broke horse but expecting her to have something large, fluffy, AND noisy riding around between her ears might be a stretch).

I actually started on the ears a week before I had the wig or any idea what I was going to do for the topknot. So what I did in this picture, was glue some pink felt to my material and cut out the shape of the ear. This ear is quite a bit smaller than the one in my exemplar video, by the way. My original intent was to put holes in the top of the ear and fasten it to my horse's bridle or halter with latigo.

With my mom's new pantyhose idea, however, it made more sense to attach the ears to the legs of the pantyhose. I did so by gluing the legs to the ears and then cutting another piece of my furry fabric to cover it. I figured these new design would have more play and the ears might flop around, so I wanted both sides to look the same.

If you wanted the inside to still be pink, I would just glue the pantyhose legs between the pink felt and the furry fabric.

I added a pink bow mostly because it is pretty, but it will also serve to hide the pantyhose a little bit once it gets attached. I plan on looping the legs of the hose around the throatlatches on Kadence's head and securing it with latigo so the wig topknot stays in place. My big pink bow will help draw the attention away from this ugliness :-)
