Last weekend Kasino and I traveled to Williamston, NC for the CPHA/VPHC 8 judge APHA show. We had a great time. The facilities were awesome and the folks were friendly. The weather was a bit warm but sunny and beautiful. I was happy with Kasino's first indoor arena experience and can't wait to show there again!
We started by showing in the Amateur longeline on Friday under 4 judges. Kasino pulled in a solid performance, earning 1 first and 3 seconds, which was good for one amateur longeline point.
On Saturday we were able to show again under a different 4 judges. The open longeline had a great turnout with 7 entries. We earned 4 seconds across the board, good for 4 open longeline points. The video of the class is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA1GvoGBxx8 and we were the second ones to go. The amateur longeline had the same 3 entries as Friday, but this time we earned 4 firsts, good for 4 amateur longeline points. The video of this class is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=po4y7GpwQQM and we were the last ones to go. On Saturday afternoon, I was able to take some pictures of my own colt with the fantastic sky in the background.
On Sunday, we entered a very competitive open yearling in hand trail class with 7 entries. The perfect pattern was nowhere in sight, although each yearling's pattern had its own strong points. For our own pattern, Kasino decided walking on the log while stepping outside the box was acceptable, I made a huge mistake by stepping into and out of the box during the 360, and we had a fantastic gate. This combination earned us one first, one second, one third, and one fourth, good for 3 open yearling in hand trail points.
Overall, we had a fantastic time and were home before 1PM on Sunday. Can't wait to do it again!
