Recently an exciting new program was initiated for the paint industry. Premier Paint Sires launched a revolutionary program designed to both promote participating stallions as well as give some of the lesser established members of the industry a chance to win some money.
I was the lucky recipient of the extra Non Pro money this year. Kasino had experienced some setbacks as a two year old with his three abscesses, and at show time he’d only spent 30 days at the trainer. We were still able to get shown, and the fantastic folks running the show and competing with us seemed tickled to have a non pro in the mix.
In my case, I’d already had Kasino, and we were shooting for all around events “whenever he got ready.” The Premier Paint Sires class gave us a reason to pick a date and get to the horse show. In our personal experience, it gave a girl with her homegrown colt a reason to put on the sparklies and go play under the lights.
Claire and Mike congratulate Jaime and Kasino
For the industry, I think the Premier Paint Sires class will continue to grow, and as it does, bring a wealth of positive focus to our industry. My experience was a nice class run by educated, enthusiastic individuals who care about the participants and the stallion owners. I’d be excited and proud to participate again as an exhibitor or as a stallion owner, if there’s a slot left by the time Kasino gets to the breeding shed ;-)
