Finally back online!

Nine months.

That's how long it's been.  Approximately.  Last year went offline, so I contacted GoDaddy.  They apologized and said they were aware of the problem.  A hosting server or servers had gone down.  I didn't need to do anything, everything would be migrated to a new server and my site would be back online.

So I waited.  And I waited.

I finally opened a new ticket.  Same story.  Please bear with us.  It's taking weeks to migrate your Gig or so of data (not really, I know I wasn't the only one).  So I kept waiting.

And then Christmas came and went, and a new job, a trip to California, and all of things that go with holidays and new jobs and the stress of such things.  It was a while before I even noticed the site wasn't back online.  Godaddy doesn't offer email support, only calling in or chatting directly.  I started a couple of times, but the wait was tremendous, and I just didn't have the time at that moment.

In all of that stretch, I never even logged into hosting on Godaddy.  They said they'd take care of it.

So finally a few days ago, I opened a chat.  First thing, the technician assisting me wanted to know what took me so long to make a ticket. Not nice. Not nice at all. Then he acted like it was going to be hard or impossible to fix, asking if I had a back up of the site.  Also, NOT NICE.  Finally he found the problem, and said one of the folders had the wrong permissions.  This is a folder the end user (me) has access to.  So there was the insinuation that I had caused this problem.  Also NOT NICE.

But, long story short, it's FIXED! Back online!  Life is still busy and stressful, but I'm going to try to start making posts again semi regularly. 


You guys have missed a lot!  :-)
